En la costa de la provincia de Buenos Aires |
Next to the city of Buenos Aires
there is a swampy strip of land nearby the shore of
the La Plata River where a hunting species has found
an ideal habitat.
This species that comes from the crossbreeding of the
European wild boar with the feral pigs of the region,
has populated very quickly the area assuming that it
takes advantage of most of the ambient conditions to
reach a quick demographic growth. In the place
abounding in tall grass, this animal finds a perfect
environment to do its beds and to hide in during the
day; it provides itself with water and food in plenty
on the river shore and in the bounding forests. These
animals are distinguished by the development of important
canine teeth (tusks) which are much estimated trophies
for sportive hunters, who come into this region with
the hope of living an exciting hunt and obtain a trophy
of a high quality which is difficult to find in the
traditional places where the wild boar is hunted worldwide.
Generally, this kind of hunt is carried out through
horseback riding because this is the only way that guarantees
reaching the places where this animal lives, keeping
in mind that the swampy characteristics of the territory
do not allow the use of other vehicles or moving on
foot. It is also necessary the assistance of hunting
dogs which are trained to find the animal in its hiding
place and taking it out in order to give the hunter
the chance of making a clean shot or a slash with a
knife.
Nowadays, there is a huge population of this hunting
species which guarantees the success in weekend hunts
or even in daily hunting programs.
As a conclusion, this kind of hunting is special for
those sportsmen who like strong emotions and want to
collect good trophies.
